Pascha is the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It's the day when the Cross ceased to be an instrument of torture and became a symbol of eternal life. Pascha sets us on our journey to His Resurrection and eternal life for us. Without His sacrifice, we'd only exist and then we'd die.
Pascha is the day of joy. "Let us be radiant for the festival" (Doxastikon of Pascha). We celebrate with roasted lamb, cracking eggs, eating tsoureki, and being with family. We enjoy the day and live the promise. Pascha is the most beautiful of Feasts in our Church's calendar. I look forward to this day because I feel as if my life has begun again. My "slate is wiped clean" by way of Christ's sacrifice for me. Spring has sprung and the flowers are in bloom and I thank God that He created this world for me to experience every day. Every morning I experience a miracle: I wake up to see the new day. Pascha is more than what we see in church during Holy Week. It is a time when all of God's creation celebrates together. All the souls who have gone before us and all the souls who have not yet been born celebrate Pascha with us. We are alive in every sense of the Word. The Word guides us and loves us and never leaves us. Pascha is a time of oneness. We are all united in the Feast because we celebrate the miracle of Christ's Resurrection. He gives us hope and joy. We believe that all things are possible with God. We never doubt on this day. Nothing can separate us from God's love. He radiates in our hearts and in our souls. We are special because He dwells within us and He never leaves us. We are His temple where He participates in our lives. We are never alone. Pascha sets us free. We are forgiven and loved and redeemed. We have the chance to live in His perfection and to do good works in His name. Pascha is the day when no one should "...grieve his poverty; for the universal Kingdom is revealed. Let none bewail his transgressions; for the light of forgiveness has risen from the tomb. Let none fear death; for death of the Saviour has set us free." (Paschal Homily of St. John Chrysostom). Truly He is Risen!
